Mayfly nymph incomplete metamorphosis (3 stage: egg, nymph, adult). Complete metamorphosis for most insects consists of 4 stages: egg, larva, pupa, and adult.

This mayfly was small, ~8mm. Shot with a Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 Macro USM lens and 36mm ext. tube at 1:1 focus which equates to ~1.6X magnification. ISO 100, f/10, 1/200th, Canon Macro Twin Lite MT-24EX.

That's a really cool series Roy! #2 looks the best from an alien point of view.
