A surprise at Mercer - 05-02-2009, 11:47 AM

Made a quick trip down to Mercer Arboretum in Humble(Houston) this morning. Was my great pleasure to run into Therese Tusa (ttusa) right off the bat. We had a howdy-do and a laugh at my expense: I rode down there with the A/C on and my lens was all fogged up. Took a while to defrost. Anyhoo, Therese, it was really nice to meet you and next time, lets go get a cup of coffee or something afterwards? My treat.

Shooting specs: Early morning overcast, Nikon D2X, Sigma 150 and tubes(1.8x), diffused SB600, handheld, F9-F11,1/250,ISO160.

#1 Technicolor spider, Leucauge venusta

#2 Pretty damselfly

#3 My first closeup of a dragonfly for 2009

#4 And, last, an inquisitive little cucumber beetle

Thanks for looking.

Kenny

Kenny, it was so nice to meet you! Sure I'd love to have some coffee after next time! I'm glad your fogged lens is okay. So I'm not the only one who does stuff like that-LOL! I should have gone your way-that spider is waaaaaay cool!

Damn, we should have coordinated this. I went there at the end of the day with my daughter for the first time. (45 minutes on good roads, not too bad really...) Four of us independently decide to go there, 2 of us meet. Small world. :) Very nice series. I'll have to get some tubes too. :)

Kenny these are very nice! Of course I favor the damselfly most, but the spider is really cool too! I love to find these little guys...the orange on the body looks almost neon orange and really glows. Oh... I've done the ol' fogged lens thing a few times myself...now I always ride with the A/C off on the way to the park especially during the summer months when the humidity is about 100%.
