SOLD: 8gb iPhone (Original Non-3G) - 03-14-2010, 10:39 AM

Have this posted on Craigslist, but their cell phone section is ridiculous. Figured I would post here too. This is the original EDGE version, not 3G. Gently used, perfect working condition. Been wiped clean. No scratches on front, and barely any on back (just from normal everyday use). Asking $250, but negotiable. Have original box if you want. Will include wall charger.

Are the 2G's pulling that kinda money? I'm not being a jerk, I'm honestly curious.

I've been casually interested in trying to get one and unlock/jailbreak it for my wife to use on T-mobile and a precursor to seeing if its worth switching over to AT&T with the whole ball of wax.

I've seen them listed on CL for that price. Have no idea if they're actually selling for that though. I'm sure $250 is wishful thinking, but thought it couldn't hurt to try. I know if you don't want to sign a 2 year contract, you'll be paying much more in store.

Wow, that is both awesome and amazing. If they're holding value that well, that really means something. That's making me wonder more if I should just make the switch. Kinda tough after being with T-mobile for 11 years and getting great service the whole time.

The original iPhones had really nice, solid construction to them. My brother has an original and a 3G and the original feels like a solid piece of granite in your hand. My 3G on the other hand squeaks and creaks, flexes and so on

I have bought two original iPhones the past couple of months and I can tell you the price is very realistic! It is possible to get a better price...but not in perfect condition. In fact, on ebay, the price point is easily $200 with SOMETHING wrong with it. $150-175 you can expect some type of significant challenge...like a cracked screen or rows of dead pixels. BUT, the listing will always conclude with "...works great!". It's really quite comical. You will find listings with complete SMASHED screens...for $175...and the listing will say, "Works Great!".

I spent WAY too many hours on ebay trying to save a few dollars...but was eventually able to get two in pretty good condition for less than the asking price here...but having shopped iPhones 8gb really well, I can vouch that this is a reasonable price to KNOW what you are getting (i.e. doing business with a fellow TPFer) and getting a few accessories. I paid a little less for an 8gb model that had a cracked speaker, small imperfection on the screen, poor battery life, dented back and no accessories. Then a month later with prices seeming to have gone up a bit (I think after the iPad was announced with less than expected features), I was only able to snag a 4gb model after an unreasonable amount of time (on my part) looking to save a few dollars.

BTW, I didn't get these phones to use as phones...simply a pretty awesome little computer. I am still with Sprint with older Smart phone plan on legacy contract with significant corporate discount. It would be REALLY, REALLY nice to have cell service on the phones, I won't lie. But, for the little computer that the iPhone is...it is amazing to have the WIFI in a hand sized device.

I got my wife her phone at first...still thinking I would wait for an iPad or just be happy with my Netbook when I didn't need/want a full sized laptop. But having set up the one for my wife, I had to get me one. I owned several Apple Netwons back in the early years of PDAs, and have moved up the line with several Palm Pilot devices...and WOW! What can I say? I can't believe I held off so long on getting one. I thought about getting just an iTouch, but I wanted the camera, etc.

Personally, I really think Apple could absolutely corner the market if they would come out with an 8mp Camera/iPod/iPhone/GPS/Mp3/Video. They are so close...yet so far away with the iPad!

Ok, rant off. Point is, this is a reasonable deal, especially given the condition.

I ignored iPhones until I started working at Apple retail and when you're around them every day...needless to say I fell hard. I actually bought a used 2G for $200 from a customer who was upgrading and I unlocked it for T-Mobile. Since then I've bought and sold more than 10 phones and am currently on a 3GS. Sam's right the original had a great body that I still miss but you can't replace the performance. Just to give another idea of the range these go for, I sold a 16gb 3GS in 10/10 condition, unlocked(because people will pay more for that even though it's simple to do) for $650 about 2 months ago

For $100 I almost want another!! Another TPF let somebody steal one for $100 just moments before I could steal it!

I think we might need to send a few $ to Kirby for camping out on his thread. Hopefully he at least gets to sell it with us keeping it at the top of the FS list! ;)

Personally, I wouldn't hesitate spending $200+ on a mint iPhone. I think your resale value is intact for the foreseable future, for sure.

Local sale pending. If it doesn't go through, Jusselin has asked for it as well. Will update thread accordingly.

I don't look at it as being stolen.

I got my money's worth out of it and passed on a good deal to some one that had a need.

I know I could've gotten more. Not the point.
