...may be up for grabs soon. Hard to believe I'm saying this as I have been here for so long and really love my place, but here it is... As I'm moving through a business transition and positioning myself to move back to the northwest when my daughter graduates high school, it occurs to me to put the word out to you photographers. Many of you have been here, or know of my place. I'm on two acres in Frisco where I designed and built my portrait studio (which could easily be converted to a guest house/pool cabana/rec. room.) I designed the studio so it would never be obsolete when the time came to sell, and it's a desirable property in a unique neighborhood. Still, I'd much rather see a photographer make use of what I have created here than to sell to just anyone. I'm not in a hurry. My daughter is a junior. BUT... the right buyer might motivate me to sell sooner than I had anticipated.

The house is 3200 sq ft, 4 bedroom, 3 bath, 1-2 car garage, and 2-1 car garages (one on studio), pool, jacuzzi. The images below are a little outdated, but the building hasn't changed.

Since I'm not on the forum daily and will likely be traveling this week, if you have serious interest please feel free to email me at fran@franreisner.com.

The thought of leaving here kills me, so it's with mixed emotions that I'm hitting the submit button.

I can honestly say that it was very well thought out and there's nothing I would change. The folks at Rangefinder Magazine asked me to write an article about it a few years back. You can access that through the "Sharing the Passion" page on my website, below. It's titled "If You Build It, They Will Come".

Thanks Tony. It is a great place, and again... I've got very mixed feelings about the possibility of moving any time soon, but I would be thrilled to know that another photographer was able to benefit by it.

Fran
Sorry to hear you will be leaving DFW in the future.

Loved your house and studio when I was there.

What is the zoning in your neighborhood ? Any reason to believe it would change ? This is a fast growing area and the business opportunities are growing exponentially.

So far as I know there will be no zoning change. And I've had my business here for 13 years with no complaints from the neighbors. I don't have a huge number of clients coming through, but some days get busy. Nice thing is there's plenty of parking off the street for a low volume business.

No, at least not yet, but the right photographer/buyer might be able to work a mentoring deal with me and work into that possibility.

If I had any interest in living in DFW, and could beg, borrow and steal....I'd be all over this! LOL

Sis, when you do decide to go, we need to have a GTG!

I'm not leaving for at least a year Sis, probably more like a year and a half. Remember the 5-year plan I told you all about when you were here for the workshop... the one I developed while taking in Italy on my own. "If I've got nothing holding me here (in Texas) when my daughter leaves for college I want to be making enough, in some other aspect of this industry that I have a passion for, to be able to walk away from the business I have develped here." Still whittling away on my transition, but as the time draws near I've got to continue thinking forward.

Yes, a GTG is in order! I'm off to NYC over the next two weeks, and teaching a week long class the first week in May. Any time after that!

And the 5% commission back to the forum for the sale? LOL

I know we talked about your 5 year plan back then (great weekend), but its sad to see it coming so close.

I'm so disappointed you wouldn't want to move up here and share in our air pollution, traffic congestion and plentiful supply of rude and unhappy people.

That is a beautiful place, Fran. Best of luck on the sale and move!
