Question FOUND: DirecTV HD Receiver (Houston) - 06-18-2010, 09:50 AM

Anyone have a DirecTV HD Receiver they want to part with? I bought a new HDTV for the bedroom, and the picture off of the standard def receiver looks horrible. HD DVR would be OK too if the price is right. I've seen some on Craigslist, but was hoping someone on the forum could help me out first.

I ended up buying one off of CL. I did have issues (not the sellers fault at all). DirecTV said it was leased, and they could not transfer it to me. I contacted the seller, and he said they were incorrect and that he owned it before they switched entirely to the lease model. He called them and straightened it out, I called them back, and they were able to switch it for me. The support person on the phone said the "Leased" status defaults to yes when you deactivate a box. I also had problems getting local channels to come in, but ran through the satellite setup option one last time and it started working. All is well now.

If anyone buys a receiver from someone else, ask them for the receiver ID number first, then call DirecTV to make sure it doesn't show up as a leased box.

Glad you found one but I was definitely bummed when they went to leased equipment, though I love our HD DVR I have to say. :D
