I ended up buying one off of CL. I did have issues (not the sellers fault at all). DirecTV said it was leased, and they could not transfer it to me. I contacted the seller, and he said they were incorrect and that he owned it before they switched entirely to the lease model. He called them and straightened it out, I called them back, and they were able to switch it for me. The support person on the phone said the "Leased" status defaults to yes when you deactivate a box. I also had problems getting local channels to come in, but ran through the satellite setup option one last time and it started working. All is well now.
If anyone buys a receiver from someone else, ask them for the receiver ID number first, then call DirecTV to make sure it doesn't show up as a leased box. |
