Not trying to start anything here, but would you put an automatic pistol in a man's hands for self defense? All men? Just curious. I don't have the data, but I feel pretty strongly that if you go out and find 100 men and 100 women at random on the street, more of the men will have more experience in shooting than the women, so I can sort of see where you are coming from. I just wouldn't say "any" woman's hand. And I know a lot of men that wouldn't have a clue how to clear a jam.

While my Glock has never jammed, I know it could tomorrow, but I feel pretty confident that I have the strength and knowledge to clear the jam. My .50 cal Desert Eagle jammed several times. It is a very big, very heavy gun and I was able to clear it. I got some bad ammo that was loaded light. It never jammed again after I got rid of the bad ammo. Then I sold it so I could get a camera... I miss it.

But at least you agree to allow women to have guns. I have to give you credit for that.

I can clear a jam from an automatic and fire six shots faster and more accurately than I can fire the same six shots from a fully functioning revolver, at which point I'll still have 4-12 more shots to fire if I need to, where the revolver becomes an awkward hammer. When you consider the actual hit rate in a real life firefight, the extra rounds can mean the difference between walking away or not.

Anybody, man or woman, can do the same with some basic training.

I have the stainless and it very rarely jams, even though I use the cheapest ammo. I bought it because I generally prefer stainless. Later, I found out that for some unknown reason, the stainless doesn't suffer from the same chronic malfunctions as the blue. Most of the guys with the blue model end up having to use mini mags, which are far more expensive.

John,

I do this for a living. Yes, any auto pistol CAN jam, just as lightning can strike you at any time but what are the odds? A quality automatic that is well maintained takes the odds way down. How many military forces world wide use revolvers and bolt action rifles? How many use automatics? You are a bit behind the times.
