Nothing, per se. I also have a pair of vintage pioneer headphones that I re-cabled and have been using with great pleasure. I ended up trading the shure's for a behringer feedback destroyer for use as a parametric EQ on my home theater sub. He got a much better bargain, but we both walked away with something that would actually be used.

my e2c's were a favorite, until the wire jackets cracked over the ear and started shocking me on a regular basis.

i went through a headphone "phase" .. beyerdynamic dt990 600ohm, aiaiai tma-1, vintage pioneer monitor 10, vintage pioneer se-2, and a bunch of portable dac/amps. then I bought the se-425's for some portability and i wanted to give IEM's a try, especially since the cables were replaceable. i also picked up a pair of broken vintage pioneer se-4's and re-cabled them. both are very different, and yet i found myself listening to the old pioneer cans more and more.

so i grew out of my headphone phase and refocused on my HT setup now that we purchased our first home. i built this massive DIY sub and figured i could consolidate some projects to fund everything.

sold a bunch of bmw parts to build the sub and pick up an oppo bdp-93, and managed to trade these IEM's for a PEQ to further tweak the sub. For reference, that box is 5ft tall and has a footprint of 20"x29" ;)

If you still have your E2C's... Shure will replace the cables on them for 50.00
