OK, I asked able about this very question about three weeks ago. Here is Abel's response to me.
I recommend getting a copy of a CHL is one is available. Additionally, do a background check. For $20, you can do one online.

Seems like a Face to Face sale is ideal... that way there is no shipping issues that can arise that tend to make things much more difficult.
bill of sale to be filled out for both parties: ftp://texasguntrader.com/billofsale.pdf
shipping a firearm gets to be very tricky... here's more info on carriers in regards to shipping firearms: http://www.seark.net/~jlove/shipping.htm
for instance some carriers will ship long rifles and shotguns but not hand guns etc.
best way to ship a firearm as a private sale is to handle it with a Federal Firearms Licensee (a licensed gun dealer, aka store etc). seller would have to give to FFL dealer, that dealer will ship to another FFL dealer in purchaser's city and then make the transaction with the purchaser themselves. there is often a fee that the FFL will require, sometimes $15 and up including shipping fees etc.
in short, yes you can list a firearm here on TPF for sale but it MUST be a face to face only transaction in order to make things clear and concise..
No fully automatic weapons, select fire weapons, or destructive devices allowed.
hows that sound?
