- Affordable Scans is a photo, film and document scanning service. We're a little different than a normal scanning service in that:
1) We focus on scanning entire collections of things like photos and slides. Typically, our customers are either trying to get all of their old photos and slides scanned so they can go all digital now (Michael Garfield at hightechtexan.com) or just have everything on a DVD so they can evacuate with it instead of lugging all of their photo albums and slide boxes with them. We do other things like 8mm video film conversion and turning things into photo books and slideshows, whatever our customers need to complete their archiving projects. Everyone needs something slightly different done so we're problem solvers as much as scanners.
2) We don't have a retail front. We're in a professional building with doctors and lawyers and we do business by appointment and a weekly open house on Saturdays from 11AM to noon (this is where most people come to see us and drop off/pick up). This helps us to keep our pricing reasonable (you're only really paying for the scanning labor cost, not that plus everything that comes with a retail front), but it also means that we have to advertise creatively.
Affordable Scans is a family run company that is just getting started. We're here to support the forum, get some feedback on the things that we're doing and (hopefully), find local partners and get some visibility. - Favorite Aspect of Photography
- A lot of things I do revolve around imaging (I also have a background in computer generated graphics) so my interests naturally revolve around the processes by which images are generated and captured. I care about the little details that make one image different from the next.
