Hi Leon - sorry for the late reply. I just saw your message.

How much a trip costs depends on how long you want to stay. A round trip airline ticket from DFW would be about $1,400. Saigon is an expensive city to stay in, but in Hue, you can stay in a very nice clean hotel for about $30 a night. Figure another $15 a day (on the high side) for meals. Hard to figure the rest of the things you need money for - a taxi, a souvenir, etc. Figure between $3,000 and $3,500 for a 2 week trip if you go with me. If you just go to Hue without me, my friend Cu will *more* than take care of you as a photographer.

Stamina - the hardest part is the long flight across the Pacific - 14 hours from DFW to Tokyo, then another 6.5 to Saigon. At 66, it is the plane travel that gets me. The heat will sap your energy - just plan accordingly, and when you get tired, head towards your hotel room for a nap.

I would love to organize a trip for TPFers. Thanx again - on the way home now.

Favorite Aspect of Photography

Landscapes, Nature & Wildlife, Sports, candid people shots & any unexpected opportunities to shoot an interesting scene. Take your appropriate cameras & lenses (and maybe an extra lens or 2 for the surprise situation)-Go to the situation-set the exposures and settings to the best of your experiences and abilities-shoot the shot and capture the image exactly as it is with as little PP as possible.
