Shots from the Polebridge area - 11-20-2011, 08:36 PM

Here are some shots I've taken up in the Polebridge area of Glacier Park:

Bowman Lake just before moonrise this past summer:

Here's an old seed drill about three miles north of the Polebridge ranger station near the original Walsh homestead and what was once the Kintla Post Office. The Red Bench fire of 1988 swept through and took out the building that housed the Kintla PO, but this drill survived.

Anyone who has driven the North Fork road between Columbia Falls and Polebridge knows what this photograph is saying. If you've driven the road and you DON'T understand the meaning, consider yourself lucky!

I was driving down the road and saw this shock absorber. Realizing what it was after I passed it, I stopped, backed up, and took the shot. Then I threw the thing in the back of the pickup so someone didn't run over it and ruin a tire.

Thanks. I love shooting in your part of the country.

The exif on the Bowman Lake shot shows 91 seconds at f 5.0 and ISO 800. I was using a 10-24 mm Tamron lens at 10 mm.

I learned that night that there's one thing worse than showing up at nearly 1 am to find your mother waiting up and saying "where the hell have you been? I've been worried!" That's showing up at nearly 1 am to find your wife waiting up and saying "where the hell have you been? I've been worried!"

Well...at least she wasn't mad because she couldn't find the life insurance paperwork...
