If I could do this shot over, I would use f/16 as opposed to f/11. I was concerned with the purple cone flower in the background showing up too much.
To me it's always a learning process with nature photography, and I love the challenge of macro work especially.

Sony Alpha 700, Minolta 200mm macro lens, Gitzo 1225 tripod, cable release, natural lighting, f/11.

Awesome shot, Therese. I like it the way it is. In my opinion, the fade in the back petal helps integrate the flower to the background, and gives it a touch of softness (tenderness) to balance out the fine accurate details in the central part of the flower. Be happy! Tri.

I agree with Tri here. The fading into the background really sets it off for me. Beautiful shot.

Leave it. It looks wonderful. I'm having a bad photography week if it makes you feel any better. I took maybe 300 shots today and not a one turn out to my satisfactory.
So I will enjoy yours and others on here.

Sany take another look at your shots. I'm sure there's some good stuff in there. It's very normal to have "slumps" in photography.
