Wood duck drake - 3-year project - 07-23-2009, 02:54 PM

I recently bumped into a local bird asked me the wood duck gallery i promised to show long ago. Yeah, never finished ..... The project has been dragging on for 3 years, it's about time i gave up the nest and flight shots that aren't likely to happen, and start working on post processing.

Let's start with a few of the Drake.....

#1 Taken with iphone. Shooting location, White Rock lake, this is probably one of the best location for waterfowl when the water is cleared on a calmed day. The key element here is foliage reflection, you can put mallard in there and makes cover. No gator, u can do belly work all morning... :)

#2, Soft morning light barely break in

#3, one of the still reflection, rare to come by

#4, checking me out?

#5, water color to die for...

#6, turtle and me.... that's with 2x at 1000mm

#7, this sum up one of the most colorful waterfowl next to the Mandarin duck

#8, kinda suck that's the only in flight capture i got in from the last 3 years.

#9, Just the way i remember it looked though the viewfinder.

Stunning shots! I love the reflections and colors, and of course the ducks themselves are beautiful. Great compositions, too.

I wish my pictures look the way they do on my LCD Screen! Can you detect a little jealousy here? These are great.

Daniel, Great shots I think I know what part of the lake you were at. I'm still carefull about laying down out there. I watched a cotton mouth cross east lawther one morning. Saw a jogger go over and try and give it a closer look.
I have a shot of your duck's brother, sister, cousin...

Daniel - these pictures made me drool. Beautiful. Wood ducks are my favorite duck to observe. I didn't see the information anywhere...what kind of lens were you using?

These are all tremendous! You don't post very often but when you do it's always well worth the wait to see your beautiful work. See you again in a few years?

Daniel,
These are really nice images but I do prefer my photos to be slightly out of focus with just a bit of noise.

Don't listen to Lonnie, he's just jealous. Colors, exposure, composition and focus are awesome. An exceptional series of shots Daniel.
