Daybreak on the GW duck pond - 11-16-2009, 09:08 AM

My first post in this section...c&c would be welcome.

These were taken just as the sun was coming up on the ponds at Greatwood.
All shot with the 7D and 70-200 2.8L IS.

EDIT: Recropped as suggested and reposted first shot...

I drive by those ponds when I'm on my way to BBSP every week! I like #3 and 4 best!

Thanks Jim! While I don't recommend it as a replacement for BBSP, the ponds can be a fun place to shoot a variety of birds and the area has easy access from the surrounding parking lots.

I like to get out in the woods... it's far more relaxing for me, but places like that are splendid to get some practice shooting in... keeps the ol' shutter fanger primed up!

I love the peaceful reflection of the first one, but you might want to crop the black portion from the top.

Jim - I definitely agree with getting into the woods, except the mosquitos were so bad I thought they would carry off my seven year old daughter who insists on getting up at daybreak to shoot with me...

Therese - Thanks! I did struggle with the crop on that one.

Welcome aboard! He who seeks good light is justly rewarded...
There are tons of secret spots like this. Rookeries nobody knows about, etc.

# 1 is really cool. Id crop off the top and bottom. Thinking that would make a good shot great...
