This is a picture I took to close out this year's deer season. It kind of represents to me what the season was all about, short of a campfire being in the picture. Criticism is always appreciated. | | | | | Sponsored Links | Premium Members do not see Google advertisements. SIGN UP today and help support our community.

Tommy, nice way to end the season...beautiful sunset...I always enjoyed the campsite environment...visiting with family/friends...spinning hunting stories...playing dominoes all night...can't say that I miss those cold cold mornings crawling out of the warm bed/sleeping bag only to go out and sit in a freezing cold deer stand and not see anything...well I've traded in my gun for a camera...need to find someway to get back out in the woods with my camera...

Wonderful shot Tommy! I love the starburst on the setting sun and the great colors in the sky. It really does remind me of my hunting days and makes me want to go again.

Patti | Patti...have nothing against hunting...just reached a point where I get more enjoyment shooting them with a camera instead of a gun...last time I went hunting with a gun, took my video camera...had three bucks feeding around the feeder...took lots of video of them...was only hunter to see any bucks...maybe those bucks knew which feeder was the safest one to eat at...

I killed my first buck at age 11 and my last one at 49. I continued hunting for 6 more years and never fired a shot, although I passed up probably 50 bucks better than any that I had killed.
Like Ron, I traded rifle for a camera and long lens. I can tell you that it is much more difficult to capture a quality image of a large buck than it is to kill one.
I now have a house full of rifles which haven't seen daylight in 15 years.

I enjoy shooting with the camera, the bow, and the rifle.....I really like being able to use a short lens when bow hunting and being right on top of the game, but sometimes I just have to pick up the rifle. I never go out without my camera though. | | | |

the tightest grouping....as for the bucks if you started at age 11 you must of
mastered that sport!!!

Patti,
Yea, I was a gun nut. Buying and selling. Started loading ammunition as age 17, after which I never killed an animal with factory loads. Always tried to find the right combination of cases, primers, powder, and bullets for the each rifle. Spent a lot of time at the rifle range. Became a lifetime member of the NRA 43 years ago.
I still have rifles that I wouldn't part with, but I really need to sell some of them.
