Why Do You Carry a Camera Everywhere? - 02-15-2010, 08:28 PM

I was asked that question this morning at work. Less the an hour later no less the 3 people came into my office asking "did you bring your camera?" The told me that there was a big bird in the parking lot. I'm thinking the big bird is on a light pole and well out of the reach of my 80-200mm.

I look out my office window and don't see it then another guy comes in and points it out to me. There is is a Red Tail hawk sitting the roof of a truck. As I watched there were people walking past it and taking pics with there Cell phones.

Due to a visit from one of the owners I was unable to run out there with my camera, but an hour and half later it was still there. So I went out to the parking lot took a shot or two then I decided that the situation was too unusual I decided to see if it could fly and fly it did, taking it's meal with it.

It flew into a tree in the parking lot where it remained the rest of the day. It was still there when I left allowing me to get close enough that it could have pooped on me had it wished. The photos are uncropped I only sized them down for the web. I believe that this is a young bird thus it's lack of fear.

Nice shots. I made the error of not taking mine to the Ag Barn with us and missed the oppertunity of shooting a pair of matting hawks. Boy was I POed.

Scratched... among other things, look at the streak running down the windshild, as well as small bits of rabbit.

Haha the "wtf" pic (as it has been dubbed) is awesome!!
If you stuck "WTF" or "ORLY" on it in some shoddy font it would probably be an internet sensation.

Great pics!!!!
