Okay so I do have ADD-I've been looking for my AWOL CF card, and I just found it in the washing machine!! I'm sooooo easily distracted.

I've put it in the computer, and it sometimes will bring my images up, but not sure if I should use it in my camera tomorrow.

I have a feeling no one else has done something like this, so not sure if anyone has any advice-LOL!

You might want to check on the Alphamount website and see if anyone on there might be of assistance. Not sure where you'd post the question. Not sure I'd stick it in the camera especially if I had another one. I don't know how the internal circuits would react to a short. That's why I keep a number of them around. Good luck.

No, haven't done that Therese, but I don't think I would trust it myself. Might be alright but electronics generally don't like washing machines. CF cards are relatively cheap now compared to the cost of repairing or replacing the camera.

You are not the first. There is a thread around here where someone else owned up to it.

I have a couple other CF cards, so I guess I'll just use a new one and ditch the old one. I don't want to cause any problem for my camera-thanks for the advice!

I typed " washing machine" in the search.

I think I counted 6 cards and a couple of thumb drives.

See, don't you feel a lot better.

I dropped one in the Gulf of Mexico once. Does that count? I was able to get the photos off of it but then pitched it. Not worth the risk for the potential once in a lifetime shot that may be out there.

Good point Tim-I had backed up images off that card that I thought were high quality ones. There is only one that I hadn't backed up yet, but it wasn't just out of this world. I've got two other CF cards to use.

Yes dropping a CF card in the Gulf of Mexico counts.

But, did you run it through the dryer?

Recently I bought an 8gb SanDisk Ultra 30 mb/sec at Walmart (of all places) for $39 plus tax. It works just as good as my San Disk Extreme III 8gb cards. Checking around online, I could have gotten it for 4-5 dollars cheaper but, hey, a bird in hand...

My card goes from the camera to the reader and back to the camera so I'm in no danger of doing this...well maybe not... you know how us seniors are sometimes... My new avatar says it all
