Bobcats of the Martin Refuge - 03-23-2010, 10:31 AM

The first three images of the Bobcat were taken with my first digital camera and a 500 reflex lens. The Bobcat was so close that all I could get were head shots. The last three were taken this past August late in the day, the temp. was over 100, but the intense heat was forgotten when this guy showed up. I got 76 shots of this guy. I had two other photographers with me I don't think we breathed the whole time he was there. Getting one shot of a Bobcat is special, but 76 is heart stopping.

those are some amazing pictures. Bobcats are very beautiful and are very curious animals. I have taken a few pics of them but none as good as yours.

Incredible shots Patty. Outstanding. That had to be a thrill. Good work and thanks for sharing such special moments. You need to enter these into a contest.

These are all marvelous and publication type material! I've had a few encounters with bobcats at Brazos Bend State Park...Once on Red Buckeye Trail, back by the river I shooting some macro photos at the edge of the trail with my 105 and just happened to turn and it was setting in the trail and was 20 feet from me. I think I was far enough off the trail down wind that it didn't see or smell me and when I turned it saw the movement and we saw each other at the same time...I learned how fast they can move through the dense forest that morning...very fast!! I'm hoping some day to get one in the open...they are out there so there is hope.

Patty, You always have all the luck. You must tell them to go hide when I come down to Martin Refuge. But you did make up for it with the other birds.....

Award winning images there! I can't believe how good these look. You must be so proud of these. Thanks for sharing! The best I've seen of a wild bobcat!

Dennis,

Yes, I was in one of our 8 blinds. The critters regard the blinds as part of the environment and many times I have had birds and other animals 1-2 feet from me. I had one Orange-crown Warbler land on my camera lens.
