High Island Trip - 04-11-2010, 03:00 PM

Took my first trip out to the High Island Sanctuaries Friday afternoon...other than the amount of time to get there, it was a fantastic afternoon...just wished that I would have had more time to spend at the Boy Scout Woods Sanctuary. Saw lots of beautiful colorful birds and was lucky enough to get a few shots of some of them...also went over to the Rookery to end the evening. The Summer Tanager was the most cooperative posing...so I thought I would dedicate this first posting to just this bird...hope you enjoy...

Ron

These look great! I love the color on this tanager. I saw my first one couple years ago.
I believe this is a male. The female is yellow if I remember right.
Your framing looks nice too.

Thanks Patty, John, David, Jimmy, Sandy and Dennis...it was a fun time...I want to go back before they all leave...it's ashame that we only have some of these birds for a short time twice a year...I really wanted to get a shot of an Indigo Bunting...I watched one for at least 20 minutes hoping that he would come out in the open...but no such luck...I've got some more that I will post soon...

Excellent shots Ron. I hope you left some treat for all the great posing. The wife and I were at the Birding Festival from Thursday until Sunday and had a great time.
