Colorful Birds In My Yard - 04-18-2010, 09:29 PM

Well, the Tanagers, Orioles, Indigo Buntings are here finally! I had lighting issues but decided to post back lit shots anyways.
This is just to show you what I got here in Hitchcock.
Hope you enjoy!

Oh, yeah the squirrel had serious heartburn issues from eating too many berries!

Great series Sandy...looks like the Mulberry tree was the place to camp out for shooting...nice shots of the migratory birds...wished a few would come to my yard...just read this mornings birding report from High Island...yesterday (Sunday) was apparently the best day so far this year...29 different warblers reported plus tanagers, grosbeaks, catbirds and thrushes...the woods were alive with birds...

I have two of those Mulberry trees so when one is empty I go to the other side of the yard to get the other.
I wish I could get out to HI. My truck broke down so I've been dealing with that issue.

You should have a Bird Festival in your yard! I did see a Mississippi Kite down the street yesterday, though....

Speaking of Raptors, my RTH finally showed up this morning. I think she's been on a nest somewhere close tending to babies. I haven't seen either parent for weeks!
So what did you do this weekend? I think you should post your SBNW excursion. Did you have a chance to see Bobcat trail? I bet the buntings were thick in there.
