My First Cover - Blue Dasher Dragonfly - 05-14-2010, 05:28 PM

Hey y'all...

Long time no write--Uncle Sam sent me off to grad school deep in the heart of the rust belt and sadly my camera has been seeing much more time on the shelf than I would prefer. Thankfully there's only 10 months left to go and after that I can hopefully retrieve some of my sanity.

Anyhow, an image that I think I displayed here at one time or another has found it's way (with my permission and blessing) onto the cover of Lake Country Life magazine. It isn't my first published image by far, but it is the first time I've gotten onto a cover. I'm thrilled beyond belief...

Attached is my crop of the image as well as a different type of flying friend that I shot last weekend. I miss Texas and can't wait to get home. Hope all is well for you and yours.

Warm regards -j

Nice shots! Congrats on the cover too. That's awesome.

Here's my take on a blue dasher. Thought you might get a chuckle out of it.

Thanks - I suspect that the circle of fear on that blue dasher was a little smaller than mine ;)

Warm regards -j

Jim,

Congrats on great images, and congrats on making the cover of a magazine! Don't worry, you'll be back soon enough. Are you at Goodfellow or just in SA otherwise? I did my technical training for the AF there back in '84.

Thanks for sharing!
Sam

I was at Goodfellow, Sam, but I doubt I'll have the chance to go back for reasons to numerous to talk about here. The current plan is to send me back somewhere in the state, but the where is still TBD.

When it's time to hang up the uniform I'll certainly go back to San Angelo--the community has been awesome for my family and I, and we feel completely at home there.

Warm regards -j
