Just got around to process this shot. Taken with Pentax DSLR and a 1960's Pentax 500mm 4.5 lens weighing in at over 8 LBs.

Gorgeous photos and light! I love the poses you caught in both images.

Is it still the right time to catch deer in velvet? I only have a few shots in velvet and I want more. I'm thinking of going to that park (Callahan I think it's called) just South of San Antonio where I saw a bunch of deer last year.

This is the time of year they are starting. These photos were taken in July.

I have had this lens for about 4 years now. I do not use it as much as I used to because I have a Tamron SP 300mm 2.8 and a Pentax AF1.7 teleconverter and a Pentax AF 1.4-L teleconverter. I still gain about 1 stop with the 1.7 tele and still have the 510mm lens.
