Nice! This is the turnout by the bridge on I-10, right? I'm jealous of your Yak too...

Thanks Bruce and Billy. Not sure why I need a URL to add a photo to this link?
I will have to post some photo bucket photos and send a link I guess.

The area in the first photo is in the northeast area of Lake Charlotte, and yes it is not too far upriver from the I-10 bridge, a few miles.

I don't take my good Nikon stuff on the kayak, but I have a nice Pentax that I carry with a 100-300 and a small 18-55. The VR is built into the camera and it works well on a small boat. Amazing how bad these low res images can look compared to their real presence. I'm surprised how blurry the top one looks here, and not meant to knock this forum, but I think we all understand that there is downsizing involved to allow posting.

The kayak is a Solstice by Current Designs. I had a blue one until Ike came along and destroyed it. I bought this one which is a more narrow version. I usually go alone, and like to stay overnight out in the bush...all those sounds that go bump in the night. I carry a small shotgun to help me sleep at night. When I have the time, I'll stay out for four days at a time. I sunk a small rowboat in Aransas Bay one time and ruined a nice Canon camera with a telephoto.

Does anyone know what shape Anahuac NWR is currently in? I heard it was hit hard by Ike and is still in bad shape.

David,

That looks like a fun trip. Do you find it difficult to use your camera on the kayak? I have always wanted to do something like this. The second shot looks a little soft and overexposed but I do like the composition. I think it might be a little better with less contrast and saturation. The last shot is quite nice.

I like your photos and kayak! I have not gotten brave enough to carry a camera with my even though my kayak is pretty stable - a sit on top rigged out for fishing (Perception Illusion).

Save your photos at 72 res and about 800 px on longest side (maybe only around 725 if portrait orientation). Also make sure the colorspace is sRGB. Then click the paperclip. Find the photos you want to upload to the site with Browse. Select them. Click upload. Close that window. Click the down arrow by the paperclip again and insert your photos here. You can insert them all at one time, or you can write a little caption, insert one, put in a few lines, write another caption, etc.

Hope this helps. There are other ways to do this of course, but this works well for me.

Patti

Nice pics, but, I would be afraid my gear would end up in the drink. I would be willing to gamble.

I bet you have some good stories about your kayak trips. I just don't know how you put up with those buzzing mosquitoes in your ears at night.
