Green Heron Action - 06-01-2010, 04:58 PM

I spent 3 mornings at Brazos Bend over the weekend trying to capture the early morning fishing action. I sat along the bank of 40 acre lake just after sunrise near the beginning of the trail. There were green herons, snowy egrets, night herons, great egrets, little blue herons and yellow crowned night herons hanging out in the same spot so I kept going back for more. Here is the first batch. I'll post some better shots later.

Super set. I love green Herons. I never understand how they see the fish below the green muck

Thanks guys for your comments. It was nice spending some quality time at Brazos Bend. I'm getting fed up with the skeeters at High Island so I'll be at gatorville more often.

Tim,

All of these are great, but the shot jumping off the log is outstanding. Great captures.

As always Tim very nice...I like #7 also...you don't realize just how long their neck is until they stretch it out...I have a couple of photos I took last Friday (will post soon) showing the full neck extension and it almost defies gravity how they can stretch out so far horizonally and continue to maintain their balance while staying perfectly still...nice job...looking forward to more posts...agree with you about that spot on 40 Acre Lake...so much to shoot...

Ron

Excellent series Tim. Don't understand how they can fish in that goop. Must be like wasabie on a steak.
