Saturday evening I was driving some of the coastal areas of Chambers County with my wife and father-in-law. As we began to head back home, we saw some deer grazing in a nearby pasture. We stopped and I grabbed my camera though I doubted I would get much of a shot. It was already 7:30 with a dark, overcast sky. I quickly shot up the ISO to 2000 and fired a few shots before the deer decided they had seen enough.
A quick search on the internet informed me that Texas has the largest number of Axis deer in the U.S. They are native to India and Sri Lanka. Most of these deer in Texas are on ranches but some 27 counties have free-ranging herds.
