BBSP - juvenile YCNH & belted Kingfisher - 09-02-2010, 12:29 AM

8/29 morning. Quite. I got very close to the JYCNH along the 40-arce trail. The belted Kingfisher was on the other side of the lake where the Anhingas normally are (turn at tower). A park ranger led group walked by and the ranger said she has not seen Kingfisher in BBSP (20yrs or somthing...) The bird checklist said it is "uncommon" for summer/fall/winter, and "rare" in spring. Got lucky!

I don't know how rare a Belted Kingfisher is in that area, but I know how hard it is to get a good shot of one. Great capture.

I was there on Sunday morning too so we probably passed each other and didn't know it. The herons did seem to be more patient than usual. Here are mine

Two nice shots Wilfred. I'd love to have that good of a shot of a kingfisher. Nice catch.
