I caught the elegance of this Snowy yesterday evening. I took this with my Nikon D300s and Nikon 300mm ED IF 4.5 lens.

WOW! This should be printed LARGE and placed in a rich frame.
I love it! And a very fitting title

If this were Flickr, I'd "favorite" :)

Agreed! This should be printed large and framed appropriately!
How'd you get the black background? Was it that late?

It was almost 6pm with the help of a overcast raincloud mixture and the sun just peaking through the clouds at sunset. My ISO was only 400 so that played a big part for the black background. My shutter was at 1/1250 second and my aperture was set at F8. No flash was used. Handheld.

As far as processing goes---
I didn't do much cropping on this one. I brought the exposure down just a little in PSE8 RAW box then added a little shadow. Then I went into Unsharp Mask up to 60% @ 1 pixel, downsized for the WEB then sharpened the eyes and face after it was 800 pixels wide.

Mix all that up in a bowl and there is my finished piece of work. :)

Just an absolute fantastic photo Sandy. In processing, I might have cloned out the white specks in the lower right quadrant. My eyes keep drifting to those spots. But you created a great composition. The ripples in the water just tops it off.

Those are water droplets with the sun reflecting off of them but yeah your right. I didn't even notice that. They serve no purpose in this photo so cloning is a good idea. Thank you.

Good job!!!!!, Only a nit, it seems to be slightly tilted. The reflection looks as if its going down hill a tad.
I agree, a wall hanger for sure.
