Terese, Leon and Jim - Thanks so much! I do appreciate it!

Bruce - Yeah it the 1.3 crop, even wierd for us Canonians...or Canonites...It changed the view out my lenses a bit, but I'm really liking it so far. I know this camera is primarily known as a sports camera, but I think it should be best known as a BIF camera. This machine can focus faster than I can think!

Good job Patrick. Really nice images! Glad to see you out at BBSP Saturday morning.Using downsized JPEGs to evaluate images or camera performance on line (in my opinion of course) is not too usefull, though with the amount of "samples" on line you would think otherwise.
So your "hands on" experience is all that is important.
Nonetheless the Mark IV and similar Canons have a distinct advantage in AF aquisition and your photos bare this out regardless of being downsized, especially the coming at you Kildeer.
The quality of light Saturday morning was pretty good (soft, low contrast), and comparing them to images taken previously in direct sunlight (high contrast) would be like comparing apples to oranges, the images taken in soft light would be better.
Also the contribution of the lens to image quality is greater than the sensor it is coupled with. That being said AF aquisition is extremely important, especially (of course) in BIF images, and for that reason alone I think the upgrade was worth it! Another thing often overlooked is the dynamic range of a particular camera, and the Mark IV, as far as I've read, beats the 7D. regards~Bill

I saw a Juvi about 300' up over Elm Lake once. They nest near the power plant & by Oyster Creek just outside the park....

Patrick, beautiful shots. The night heron and the gator are my favorites. Enjoy the new toy :-)
