Bald Eagle Sighting...Update 2/15/12 - New Photos Added - 01-03-2011, 05:58 AM

Critique: NC:

Reading Bruce's posting about the Bald Eagles at BBSP prompted me to post this thread...over the past 5-6 weeks, I have spotted a pair of Bald Eagles flying along the Clear Creek area between Friendswood and Pearland...have not been able to get a decent shot yet...just a couple of very distant shots that show that they are indeed Bald Eagles...don't know if they are mates but hopefully they are and have a nest somewhere in the area...talked to someone on Christmas Eve that told me they heard that there was an Eagle's nest in Pearland off of Magnolia Road close to the Recycle Center...drove over there to check it out...didn't see anything or any area that looked promising for a nesting area...will try to go back and see if I can talk to some folks in the area...has anyone else seen these Eagles or have any more info on them?...btw the Recycle Center on Magnolia Road has developed a nice area for a bird sanctuary behind the center...saw some ducks, anhingas, seagulls, and egrets hanging out in the water area...

I live about 1/2 mile as the crow flies from the recycle center. I haven't seen any bald eagles lately. However, I haven't been on the lookout for them, nor have I been by they recycling center lately. I may make a run by there today and check it out. I'll post up if I find anything.

Spotted the Bald Eagle again this morning (Saturday 1/22/11) along the Clear Creek area...took this photo...it was a long shot and I had to really crop to get this...but at least I finally got a photo of it...looks like a fully grown bird...

Nice! My only experience birding over there was to shoot the White Pelicans by the waste water treatment plant off Magnolia St. A few years ago, I heard that golfers were seeing some Eagles at the Clear Creek Golf Club.

It would be wonderful if the nest can be located.... like the one in Baytown.

Bruce that golf course located between FM 2351 and Dixie Farm Road on Clear Creek is surrounded by a lot of large Pine tree woods...would make sense that they could have a nest somewhere in there...there is a nice park located next to the golf course there on 2351...it has some nice trails that go back into some of those woods...maybe I'll take a ride over there and walk those trails and see if I can spot anything...

I live nearby there also. Have never seen a Bald Eagle, but have seen an Osprey and a Caracara (sp?) at the recycle center / waste treatment land. The BOP's like the cut off telephone poles west of the waste treatment plant to perch / eat.

Last year we saw the flock of white pelicans that called the lake home for a few weeks.

I have heard report of a bobcat spotting at the recycle center as well. That I have not seen.
