The 3rd one is an Orange-crowned Warbler. Nice shots, looks like you saw some nice birds!

Thanks Will. I would have never figured that one out. I guess that it fits into the "firsts" category.

Thanks Angel. I couldn't believe the Flycatcher, Warbler, and Green Jay. The Green Jay was so close it filled the frame (@ 600mm). It was doing some kind of weird dance (not like the Superbowl half-time show). I kind of thought it must have been looking for nesting material. The Flycatcher flew up to me when I was trying to get close to some Turkey's. The Warbler flew to it's perch while I was trying to shoot the Flicker. Must have been my day

I don't think that it is a Flicker, it looks like Red-bellied or Golden-fronted Woodpecker to me! Flicker has red or black shafts on their cheeks. This is probably a Red-bellied.

Angel- Choke Canyon is west of Three Rivers, about 1/2 way to Tilden. The first entrance has never had much (nothing that I've seen). The second is known for deer but I've only seen does. The bird population surprised me but this was only my third trip.

Thanks Lonnie and Jim

Thanks Will... Ya know... I thought it was too small to be a Flicker but I guessed Flicker anyway. I'll back check Sibley's. I'm sure you've done a better job of making the id than I have. That would mean 4OO5 that I haven't photographed before then

You got that right Ron

I'm going with Red-bellied Woodpecker. The image that I am looking at for the Golden-fronted Woodpecker has a little patch of gray on it's head that doesn't show up on my image.

Good stuff here Michael-I've never had that much activity when I went through there. Wrong place, wrong time I guess.
PS: My 600 gets here Tuesday

Me neither but I will make a pass thru anyway from now on.

Awesome on the 600. The new ISII version or the IS (like mine). I love that lens.

"Awesome on the 600. The new ISII version or the IS (like mine). I love that lens."

Don't I wish!!!!

No, its why I decided to bite the bullet now & get that "great white" The prices of the "II"'s are too far into the strastasphere(sp?) for me to reach. Besides, "I want to be like Mike" (Russell may have started something there)
Also I had a chance to get an Adorama demo for nearly 2G's off price. And after much conversation with Frank Brown at adorama, he convinced me that I would thank him for the deal when I got & used the lens (easy task to do)so I jumped on it.

I know I can't afford it, but just in case I step in front of an 18-wheeler next month, I'll have my long lusted for 600.
