I was pretty lucky to have snagged this one, as I was walking a hyper puppy with the taut leash on my elbow at the time!

Thanks. This is the Nikkor 300mm F4 / TC-17E (1.7x) converter combo stopped down 2/3 of a stop. That helps sharpness a ton.

I shot this out the car window, correctly guessing that they would disappear by the time I parked the car...

I've heard tales that they were around here, but I've never seen them. Nice captures Bruce!

I've caught glimpses of them at Oyster Creek Park. They have a nest up on one of the big power line towers just north of the bike path. Also saw some off of Avenue E in Stafford a few weeks ago. Thanks.

Nice work, Bruce - I like the hawk image (it might have been checking out your puppy at the time).

Great shots! The second would be perfect if the right wing tips weren't cut off.

Thanks, all. This was almost full frame @ 500mm. A little bit was clipped, but I'll take it...

Hawk Re-do - 02-25-2011, 09:30 AM

Bruce, I took the liberty of editing your hawk image. I added some canvas then copied, and pasted the wing tips. It was a rush job but with a little patience this could be improved on.
