Yep, ring-necked alright. We get them down here in winter, but getting close is next to impossible. This guy looks pretty calm, maybe he'll let you sneak in a bit.

yep, a ring-necked... Hermann Park pond has many of these and you can get great shots this time of year...

They are almost completely tame @ Hermann. Unreal! Nice shooting.

Gonna have to work with these to try to get anything close to yours Dan! Mine is a pretty heavily cropped even with a 400mm with a 2x attached.. but wanted something to at least ID it.. :) But there are a few of them, so we'll see..

Don these are in a homeowner's private park/pond.. haven't checked to see if there might be any in say Lorch park.

Yes, its a ring-necked. I dont know of any place out here where they come easily within reach. Would like to find one such spot :-)

I have seen a few at CHSP but there usually too far out even with a 600+2x. A smaller pond would be better.

Thanks Jim! I saw some yesterday from CHSP on Joe Pool lake, but you'd need a pretty strong telescope connected to the camera to get a close up of them... I hiked the duck pond trail.. but all I saw on that pond was turtles..
