Trinity River Bridge Rookery - 03-26-2011, 10:55 PM

Critique: NC:

I had a couple of free hours this afternoon so I ran over to the Trinity River Bridge Rookery to try out my Sigma 50-500mm lens. Most of the birds were pretty far away but there were some within reach.

When I walked up, this was the basic view from the walkway.

But some of the Immature White Ibis and Little Blue Herons flew close by.

I was surprised how fast these birds could fly by.

While watching the Ibis, this Moorhen came out of the vegetation.

I also was able to get a few shots of the Great Egret.

I think once I learn how this lens focuses, my keepers will vastly increase.

That pano shot is neat. You need a kayak to get close even with your Bigma! You got some nice ones, especially the juvi white ibis and the last one.

Thanks to all for your comments. The birds were so far away but it was just nice and peaceful for the hour or so I spent there.
