My take on the BBSP meet-up - 04-17-2011, 09:32 PM

Critique: CC:

Well, it was nice meeting everyone, but my photos aren't going to be nearly as nice as everyone else since I had my rather small lens and slow camera. I still had a great time, and it was a ton of fun.

1. Love the colors of this, but it's a significant crop.

2. The only reason I could get an awesome shot like this is because it was dead. I'm going to need to work on the patience if I'm ever going to dabble in macro.

3. Another significant crop, but it's not too bad.

4. I'm amazed this one came out as well as it did.

5. A close wandering bird.

6. I have to admit. Being this close to a gator that's not stuffed scared the crap out of me!

It was great meeting you at BBSP Audrey! Nice work on the first image - I really like the composition you selected with the crop. Also terrific job on the Ibis and the gator - both are very sharp. On the yellow crown, you've run into the difficulty of shooting a dark bird against a bright sky - you'll almost always underexpose the bird unless you bump up the exposure "on the fly" - something that can be pretty challenging when you're trying to catch a fast bird flying by.

Nice work!

Nice work Audrey. I like the composition on the first one. I agree with Patrick on the exposure for flight shots. Try using +1 exposure compensation for anything flying around in bright skys. It was nice meeting you out there.
