Looking at your picture makes me want to take another run to Highlands rookery. Looks like mama was trying to get a snooze with her eyes closed. Like how you caught the chicks eyeing each other. Good catch.

Thanks, David.....I took quite a few shots before I got one when both chicks were visible and where you could see their eyes.

I see that you used the 70-300VR. Do you have the new version TC-20E III to use with your 70-200mm VRII? Bet that would be a pretty decent combo.

Yes, I have the makings of a birder, Bruce - it was a ton of fun. I can see it how it can become quite addictive.

And I did try out the TC-20E III with my 70-200mm VR II and it did an excellent job as well, although it was a heavy combo since I was shooting upwards 95% of the time.
