Grace in Flight - The Great Egret of North Texas - 05-20-2011, 09:44 AM

Critique: CC:

I visited the UTSW Rookery near downtown Dallas for the first time earlier this week and was blown away by the number of nests, birds and photo opportunities availalble.

You can get so close that you don't need a long lens. This shot of a graceful great egret in flight was taken with a Nikkor 70-300mm VR lens coupled with a Nikon D7000.

C & C always welcome and appreciated.

I've been told I mis-identified this bird.....it is actually a snowy egret, not a great egret. The beak color and foot color is different than that of a great egret.

It is, Bruce......sorry you're not closer as I'd like to take you to this great rookery location.

And someday I'm coming down to your neck of the woods for some shooting tips from the master.

That is a great place. It has been a while since I have been there...I like the nesting material in beak.
