North Texas Lightning - 05-23-2011, 01:11 PM

Critique: CC:

Here are a few shots I took last night (5-22) that werent that bad IMO. Shooting lightning is tough. I bet I took 250+ pics and only got a handful worth looking at. I was shooting with D300, 24-70 lens @ 24mm, ISO @200, f16, auto white balance, and shutter at or around 30 seconds. I know the background isnt the best. Is there something I need to be doing different with my setup that would help for better shots? All comments are welcome.

Awesome! We haven't had any lightening here in so long I'd forgotten what it looks like! ;)

those are some really nice ground strikes. and pretty close too. I have been wanting to try my hand at some lightning shots again, but its been so long since we've had any rain. Everything seems to just drop out of the panhandle, go as far south as Dallas, then head East, missing the Houston area all together.

Thanks everyone. Mr. Scott I was sitting under my back porch so I guess I was safe. I sure do like shooting the lightning. You never know for sure when it will strike, where it will strike, and what it will look like. Exciting!!
