Skimmer Family.. Only One Chick Made It! - S.W Florida

I followed this nest for few weeks stopping by every other day late in the afternoon as a small colony was nesting few miles from where I live. At the beginning, there were 3 eggs, unfortunately only one chick made it. At first I thought the Fish Crow were responsible but I also found Raccoon tracks.

This one during the very last light.

Hope you like it.

Canon 7D, Canon 800mm L @ f/8, 1/400 sec, ISO 400, Manual exposure, Induro tripod.

Thanks!

Beautiful capture! The little one is a reminder of how delicate life can be in nature. Great crisp shot.

Very pretty shot Maxis though it is sad to hear that only one out of three birds have made it so far. I like the low angle and the colors in the image. That is a crazy beak on the left bird. Great work!

I don't know why but the bird on the left reminds me of Anthony Weiner - just saying

Nicely done, Maxis - sharp, clean background. Sad to hear the other two eggs did not make it - nature can be tough.
