Cool! I used to put up housing for PMs several years ago. They're a lot fun to watch and help. There used to be a pretty large roost down the street from me, but they've found someplace else: the trees at a local shopping center.

Houston Audubon is having a meet up 7/28 in Stafford. The Martins drink from the pond behind The Fountains shopping center 7-8pm, and roost in the trees in front of Old Navy @ 8:15pm. This is a real trip if you've never seen it!

If I ever get a place on about an acre like I want, I plan on erecting martin housing once again. I miss that.

Glad you posted the video; I have a D5100 and was wondering what the video would look like. I'm still just learning the camera. : )

Screw drive "D" lenses are far noisier than the AF-S ones. Your D5100 has a few more video options than my D7000. You can shoot 1080p 30fps, while I can only shoot 1080p @ 24 fps. That was shot with the 70-200 VR I. | | | |

Nice work, Bruce. My dad had this martin hotel he used to put up on our garage every year. I used to love watching them in the summers as a kid. We've had some in the gardens here on the A&M campus this year.
