Backyard shots - 07-31-2011, 03:51 PM

Critique: CC:

These are my first results with the Nikkor 105mm F4 micro and shooting macro. Never realized how much work it is to shoot handheld macro. Camera, lens, extension tubes make one heavy combination :D. My neck, shoulders and arms got one heck of a good workout from that. Thanks for looking and would really appreciate any CC's.

Nice start Quang, that last shot is perfect. You got guts too getting that close to wasps with the 105. I got a 180 to get more distance from the critters that sting.

Wow, the first one looks a tad soft. But, wait a minute. The second focus is sharp and and third one is awesome! A very good looking image, good job!

Nice job; if ya dont have or cant use a tripod a monopod can help with the weight. Learned that one the hard way with a Canon 1Ds and Canon 100 2.8 I used to have.

Thank you everyone for the kind words! Very encouraging :). Thanks for the monopod tip James! I'd try that next time.

About getting so close to the wasps, that was no gutsiness hehe, I was ignorant on how painful/dangerous it could be getting stung by them. Though, I was moving lightly and slowly tracking them.

The last one is very nice! They usually won't mess with you unless you get near the nest and that's another story...
