Brazos Bend all dried up KPRC 2 story - 08-11-2011, 01:21 AM

Critique: NC:

Much like anywhere else in Texas, Brazos Bend SP is extremely dry at the moment. KPRC 2 had a story about it tonight. For reference, the start of it is at Creekfield Lake, and the end is Elm lake. You can catch a glimpse of the new observation platform if you look carefully.

Drought Effects Visible At Brazos Bend - Houston News Story - KPRC Houston

Here's 40 Acre on 7/13. Much lower now. The area on the right of the trail should have water in it, and is completely dry now. Other years, they pump water from the marsh further right into 40 acre when it is low. That's impossible to do now.

Here's 40 acre on 7/3.

Since 1984 I've seen both drought and floods out there...

No Ron... a few years ago you could walk across Old Horseshoe Lake and deer were feeding in the middle of it. I'll see if I have some photos of it on my old drive, but I think I deleted all of them.
