The itchy camera finger finally got the best of me and decided with the nice breeze blowing yesterday afternoon to load the camera equipment in the truck and get out and do some shooting...ended up down on Galveston Island at Dos Vacas...everything is really dry down there...vegetation is really dry...one can only wonder what a fire would do to the area...especially with the strong wind that was blowing yesterday...the bird action was very slow...you know it has to be really slow when you don't even see one grackle...saw a few doves (Morning and White-winged), cardinal (male & female - female was the only bird I saw come to the drip area), Blue-gray Gnatcatchers, one Black & White Warbler and one hummingbird...there were quite a few shorebirds back along the shoreline...guess I should have spent more time back there...here are a few photos that I did manage to get...not sure on the IDs of the hummingbird and the shorebird...since the birding action was so slow, decided to try to salvage the afternoon by shooting some sunset photos...I've posted them over on the Landscape Forum if you would like to view them...hope you enjoy...C/C always welcomed..

Nice series. All are sharp, but #1 is my favorite.

Nearly all the hummers you see now are Ruby-throated hummingbirds migrating through. This is an immature male, I think. See the red in small spot of a gorget. There have been reports of seeing some warblers at Quintana.
