Rainy Day Dogs - 10-10-2011, 11:16 AM

Critique: CC:

My Corgis were dying to get out yesterday and play in the mud. They spent most of the day staring wistfully out the window. Zoey decided to be a pretty cooperative model and so I played around with my new 50mm 1.4 a bit. Feel free to point out anything I could improve on. I know that second image has some noise issues I tried to fix in the lower right corner. I forgot I had the ISO set to 800.

I think those are quite nice. You've got the eyes sharp which is most important. Don't you love the 50 1.4? I've had it for awhile but am longing for the 1.2 next. Someday...

Very nice casual pet portraits, the dogs all seem to be happy!

Thank you! I'm always working to keep the eyes sharp. I've started having the center focus point set, focus on the eyes, and then reframing. That seems to be working ok. I do like it! It feels like a "real" lens instead of a toy. Now that I've got a couple nice lenses, I'm trying to save up a for a 7D. The ISO noise on the XSi is killing me!

Thank you. I liked that one for the light coming in off the window.

YES! They got their revenge. Still have their little muddy paw prints all over the kitchen floor..

Thank you! I like to take pictures of them in their element, but it's hard to get them to cooperate. They move so fast! I can bribe them with treats, but those pictures always look posed.

Jenny for ISO Noise I tried Topaz DeNoise 5; it works very well. The have a free trial version. Also you can download a bundle of all their products in trial version for free. Cant remember if it was a 30 or 15 day trial. : )
