Funny how many of us go for these shots. The moon has been a test shot for most every tele lens I own.

Because it can be a challenge for exposure too. They both look pretty darn good to me. The detail is nice.

Both photos look underexposed and out of focus on my monitor.

Hmm, both look good in exposure to me. You may be able to push a little more but I have found the detail drops off fast. Hard to say without larger images.

#3 looks to be the best balance of detail and exposure.

A little sharping and contrast would probably help with the details...it certainly wouldn't hurt anything.

Not bad at all, I find that most lens don't quite focus to infinity, sometimes if it's a zoom lens you back off a little and it will do a better job.

Number #3 is like Keith said...I also like it the best...Johnny has a point...also I found stacking several images together...helps too...usually 5 or more...

I am with Keith...I love to shoot the moon...

Here are a few of the better ones I have taken...these were done a few years ago...

This image is stacked with 5 shots...

Name: Moon 1.jpg
Views: 67
Size: 37.6 KB

This is an unstacked image...

Name: Moon 2.jpg
Views: 70
Size: 32.3 KB

Sometimes stacking actaully causes issues...as you can see in number one...but it all depends on how you play with it...there are several free programs...just google... astrophotography...

Hope this helps you out...
