Hey Michael, good catches! Second one is my favorite. You really caught the alertness in his stare!
I've got Reservations at the Econolodge in Socorro,NM the 7th - 12th. Drop on in if you get the chance. A bunch of FMers are "invading" Bosque that weekend-should be fun! I passed on BiBe this trip to save money to spend on some cold clothing LOL!

Thanks everyone. I skated in about 15 minutes too late for getting the good images. The good light was gone and the deer were moving away by the time that I got there. I would have liked to have gotten the big boy near the picnic benches with a good background but he wasn't having any of that and his "son" was a pretty good poser so second choice came out ok. All of these were shot at or near 200mm (70-200). Some are cropped about 50%

Ron, as others have correctly guessed- The Caliham Unit of Choke Canyon, west of Three Rivers. I was coming home from work, which on that day means Cotulla, and made a mad dash through the area to see what I could find. The Caliham unit is usually good for birds, including turkey, and deer.

Leon- I'm hoping to make it to Bosque that week but I'm not holding my breath. I've already cancelled a couple of trips this year. If I make it I'll give you a holler. I'll give you a call between now and then

Good stuff, Michael. The buck at the picnic table is the best that I have seen since they prohibited feeding. I used to be a regular at Choke, but have not been in years. Glade to see that there are a few good bucks still there.

I've been through there a few times Bill. I've always seen does. These were the first decent bucks that I've seen. I don't think the old buck is going to make it much longer but it looks like he "planned for the future".
