Critique: NC:

While birding in my yard yesterday evening I looked over to my girls and they were doing this. Too bad the ears weren't included but there was no time to back up. I just took the shot and here it is.

Nice shot. Do you ever have problems taking photos of the black lab. I have a black dog with a shiny coat and have problems getting the black color to look right.

Oh, yeah especially in full sun. That is why I usually shoot her in early morning or in the evening time. I do better using a flash to bring out the details in the coat. Shooting in Manual and trying different exposures is a must.

A Bombay black cat was in my yard last night and had a terrible time with him.
I was able to pull it off by upping the exposure in my RAW box in PS.

I had wondered about photographing folk with different hue of skin. Some blended/extended and immediate families; humans and pets have extremes of contrast. My question is would HDR aid with achieving an acceptable picture?

As a for instance we have two jet black Labs and two Westies along with a jet black cat, human side south Italy and Welsh.

Dogs have masters, cats have staff.
