Some of you were wanting to find some white pelicans? Well, I found them. I also made a friend or two while I was down there.

Enjoy!

Great shots as usual. Looks like the Pelican likes filet of flounder.

That happens to be one of my favorite shots of the day! Nature can be funny sometimes.
Kind of like that Snowy Egret that wouldn't leave my truck. I think he wanted to go home with me.

Nice variety of captures! Love the reflection of the Snowy in the window.

You have to wonder what the so called wildlife preservationist were thinking about when they placed that many tags on the Oystercatcher in the 14th shot.

This is the second one I've seen tagged like that this year.
Three tags? Each one must mean something. Why can't they have one tag for all the information regarding the bird? And how do they keep track of it? Should I report this bird?
Does anyone have a link regarding tagged birds? I would like to learn more about it.

Sandy - the banded bird could have been from a local nesting study. I know some one that helped out with the study I'll ask how one can report the tags.

The two upper bands are placed in duplicate to be easily seen and so if one is lost there will be a second to ID the bird. The third band is the typical band with the typical banders info to track the bird. I have been seeing a red P3 band on a Oystercatcher lately, the one you found is different, I'll let you know about reporting the bands.

Thanks, Ron. I did like you said to get one of those host externals for it. I had trouble popping open the external hard drive so I had Fry's do it. Being that I never done anything like that before I didn't want to pop it open and break the drive inside.
It fit perfect in the new casing and it seemed like this was going too well...Then when they hooked it up to test it...Nothing.
So I left and called them last night after biting my teeth all day to find out if they got the files up. Still nothing. They suggested to send it off to an outside company that extracts files from hard drives. But I have plan B in the works. Someone in my family is a computer wizard and can do it.
So I won't know anything for at least a week. I can't imagine how much that would cost sending it off to some company I know nothing about.
I have a lot of photos backed up but only web size. I have around 40 CD's with older pictures.
I lost a lot of BBSP, Smithville, High Island, Bald Eagles,Three Weddings.
I can't believe I relied on that one external hard drive. This lesson has taught me to save full resolution pictures on Pbase/Myflickr from now on.
What's so funny is I asked for another external hard drive for Christmas because my one that broke was almost full. I was planning to go through and DBL backup my favorites.
Now I did save a lot just in case something did happen. So I'm not totally out depressed.
Now I know how Tim feels when he lost his.
