I shot these a week or so ago on a ranch near George West. None of these were the "big boys". I'm trying to get set up to go back next fall before season opens. I want to shoot some more of the exotics with a decent background.

That's an old buck in 2,4, and 5. And that is some expensive game there, explains the 10ft high fence. :)

I thought that too but he's about prime. The ranch is intensively managed down to DNA testing and ear tagging certain deer to keep track of age. If I remember right he was 4-ish. He bumped one side of his rack while he was in velvet and it grew out all wonky. I imagine that he's been getting his butt kicked this year. The rut was just about to kick in when I was there (note the deer in the last frame. He was marking his territory for the smaller buck coming out from the left). I saw one good fight and didn't have a camera with me... duh...

I like that 5th shot even if his rack is beat up.

Looks like you got something to look forward to in the fall.
