Ducks at El Franco Lee Park - 12-27-2011, 07:42 AM

Critique: NC:

As the amount of water in the wetland area at El Franco Lee Park continues to rise especially with the recent rains, the number of ducks have also risen...here are a few photos taken over the past week...mostly Blue-winged Teal, Green-winged Teal and Northern Shovelers...I know that we really needed all the rain from the past week, but would sure like to see some sunshine...hope you enjoy...C/C always welcomed...

Very cool duck shots Ron. I'm another one that hasn't been there before. Thanks for the tip.

Thanks to everyone for viewing and leaving your comments...always enjoy reading them...several of you have expressed interest in visiting this park...here are a few comments that I can share about the park...the wetland area is slowly recovering from this past summer drought...the park is a great area for birders with almost 200 different species sighted and checklisted within the park boundaries...as for photography, I would have to rate it as not a photo friendly area...there are only a few locations where you can get good views of the water area for photographing birds...one of those being the gazebo...don't take this the wrong way...I have captured some very nice photos at this park...but I've had to work for them...it is only 4 miles from my driveway to the parking lot at the wetland area...so for me it is convenience that attracts me...I usually visit the park several times during the week...a good shooting day at this park would be maybe 400-500 photos while a good shooting day at Brazos Bend State Park would be several thousand photos...another consideration is the lighting...the gazebo faces into the morning sun...so most of your morning shooting has to be along the trail area...so would I recommend this park...most definitely...increased visitation to the wetland area can be very benificial...the recent rare bird sighting of the Ruff in the wetland area has dramatically increased the number of visitors to the area...this park has always been knowned as a sports complex park with the wetland area receiving little or no recognition...with the renewed attention, maybe the Parks department will get off their duff and proceed with the proposed viewing tower and possible boardwalk...

Either that I think you should take me there. I have yet to ride in that cute little car of yours. My birthday is coming up. Hmmm

Considered taking a trip over to Hermann Park but decided to wait until after the Holidays and less crowds...
