A few weeks ago I went to San Bernard NWR but when I got there the gates were closed. I went to the office and talked to a ranger? and he said they had a helicopter in shooting hogs. He declined my offer to join them so I headed up to SBNWR- Hudson Unit.

The Hudson unit was pretty dry. Like most things in TX. I think it would be a great place to shoot if not for that. The boardwalks were in good shape. The trails were well taken care of. There was a Parks and Wildlife dude parked in the parking lot when I walked out. Nice guy. Considering what can be in my vehicle at any given time I was glad to see him. He suggested a place east of the NWR but I didn't write it down so it's gone from memory by now.

I couldn't leave without shooting something

Kind of glad the hog population is being ham-i-fied. I was pretty nervous walking on foot my last visit there. The tracks and lay down sleepy spots were fresh. Not to mention other things were fresh. I once had a lady I talked to in Florida and her husband was out walking alone when he was attacked by a feral hog. He was hurt pretty bad and almost lost his leg.
